Before Calvin Peete began his golf clinic for junior golfers on Saturday afternoon, he thought it would be best to teach the kids a little about life first.

"Because knowing about how life works first is what drives everything," he told the youngsters, some of whom were a bit too young to understand where the former PGA champion was coming from.

But the older juniors knew what Peete was talking about.

The eight time PGA pro golf champion gave the group a bit of a history of how he got involved in golf and how golf helped him get through school and through life.

The lessons that followed may have been more than the young golfers bargained for when they were told that a former PGA golfer would be hosting a clinic at the Lucayan Golf Course.

But they would be lessons they would not soon forget.

"I'm looking at my future," said Peete, looking over the group of kids who had assembled for the golf clinic.

"And from what I can see, my future looks bright."

The clinic was part of the Jimmy Garvin's Golf Classic, which took place over the weekend between the Reef and Lucayan Golf courses.
