Please join us for the 4th Annual SW Florida Legacy Tournament at the beautiful La Playa Golf Course October 8, 2011.

This year marks the 4th Anniversary of the Jimmy Garvin SW Florida Legacy Tournament and we invite your participation and support. The success of all of the previous Legacy Tournaments was made possible by the many sponsors and players that showed their commitment to our youth. Proceeds from this tournament will benefit the development fund for the SW Florida Interpretive Educational Centers in Immokalee and River Park.

 MISSION

The mission of the Jimmy Garvin Legacy Foundation is to prepare kids for the challenge of golf and the challenge of life. We strive to provide kids with a place where they can routinely increase their learning skills while playing golf and be instilled with etiquette that is the cornerstone of the game. In addition to developing these young boys and girls as higher learners, they will acquire the values associated with integrity, honesty, sportsmanship, respect, and the 5 P’s to success, Planning, Patience, Passion, Persistence and Possibilities.

THE PLACE

The venues for this year’s activities have moved. With renovations at our home site, the Naples Ritz Carlton, we are forced to move the weekends activities to the La Playa Golf Course located at 333 Palm River Boulevard, Naples, Florida.

We are also holding a block of rooms at the Doubletree Suites located at 12200 Tamiami Trail, Naples, Florida.

BENEFACTOR

The SW Florida Interpretive Educational Centers will operate under the auspices of the Jimmy Garvin Legacy Foundation, an IRS sactioned 501(c) 3 nonprofit, tax exempt, public organization, whose mission and focus is helping children

10th Annual Legacy Tournament at the historic Langston Golf Course

The Jimmy Garvin Legacy Tournament will be a two-day affair opening with a driving range practice and fish fry on the Friday evening preceding the tournament.  The tournament will be a two-man team scramble format on the following Saturday culminating with an open-air awards dinner reception on the course.

"An Uncharted Course - For Many Youths Throughout D.C., the Game of Golf Remains..."
(From Washington Post Article by Alan Goldenbach)

Sixty-five D.C. public schools students crammed picnic tables at the golf course at East Potomac Park one morning late last month and marveled as Roman Gonzalez, a golf professional from the Tiger Woods Foundation, handed them all sorts of the game's paraphernalia -- shirts, books, posters, even clubs. Some of the students, ranging from sixth-graders to high school seniors, began the day not knowing the difference between a driver and a putter, yet they hung on Gonzalez's words. Many were stunned by how much they had just enjoyed their first golf lesson.
